Day 07 - Change of plans

Summary: A day original planned for Universal turned into an impromptu shopping day with a good amount of things ticked off the shopping list. So yeah not much happening today and not really any photographs to speak of save for the title one and maybe another. Sorry it’s a little boring but will be better tomorrow I promise.

Stay on Target

So we had planned to go to Universal & Islands today, got up a little later with the idea that we could stay in the parks until closing. Still tired though - maybe I shouldn’t have stayed up to watch Batman Begins last night… All packed up to head out but as we got in the car, we decided on a little detour to Barnes & Noble Book Store first. As we’d already started off later, another wee while wouldn’t make much of a difference. Patrick was also wanting to check out some specific (only available in America) movies from here which is the main reason we went. Apparently there’s a huge sale on 1st July so we have to come back then. The bookstore is huge though - it reminded me of the old Borders bookstores we used to have - and it has everything! Well a lot, books (duh!), music, movies and board games. A fair selection of board games too but I promised myself I’d only buy small games or ones that were on a good deal (to keep things under the weight limit). I did see a D&D book I might pick up when we come back.

Since we already went to one shop we decided to do another and push back our Universal trip a little later. We still needed to track down a Best Buy or GameStop so headed off to the Florida Mall. We went around the whole Mall and did manage to find a GameStop AND another board game shop, but we left with really only a few bottles of hot sauce to show for it, though the hot sauce place Pepper Palace, was pretty cool and you could try out any one in the shop before you bought it. We did get some bourbon chicken for lunch though, which was a really original thing for the mall but it tasted so good!

Ummm so since we’d started shopping we thought we’d turn this day into a semi shopping day but still go to Universal at night (after six it was free parking anyway). So next we dialled in the Coliseum of Comics. - a comic book store we visited last time which was great though my credit card never really recovered. Grace, Patrick and myself were after some graphic novels so perfect place to get them. Except I entered the wrong details in to the GPS and we ended up at Coliseum of Comics all the way over in Kissimmee! Oops my bad. It was a huge store and had oversized models of all sorts of characters from the Hulk to Harley and had loads of comics, more board games and Warhammer stuff - oh dear.

And then we went to the right Comic book store which already had a Super Target next to it. If you’re still following along you’ve probably guessed by now that we didn’t get to Universal - we rescheduled for Wed realising that we could do with some down time today. Oh and I seen my first Cybertruck in the wild - so weird looking, I mean like… why??? Anyway, Batman, Venom and Harley Quinn graphic novels purchased, for Patrick, Grace and me respectively (obvs) and got a bunch of stuff from Super Target including a Stanley cup for Ann (she’d been after one for ages) and the D&D book I seen earlier (for 30% cheaper - result).

Picked up a Shake Shack on the way home as none of us were particularly hungry and I’ve always wanted to try one since watching Bosch. And that is that. A more structured and fuller day tomorrow at Animal Kingdom. Oh and even though we didn’t do much walking today - only a meagre 12k - we reached our second marathon marker for the week - 53 miles in a week is pretty good going at least by our standards.
