Day 12: Epcot

It makes it all the more easier that classic Friends episodes have been on every night I update this (though probably why it takes me ages too).

Penultimate park day at Epcot, and we headed off a little later after an early lunch, served by Norman Bates (well not really, just my memory processes in action - been doing it all holiday). Anyway managed to escape unscathed and start the bus relay to Epcot.

3 hours later we arrived at the park :( - Im so glad this will be our last bus journey to/from Disney as we have a taxi tonight and tomorrow for MK.

Spaceship Earth is our first taste of the park which is a slow moving ride through time inside the famous golf ball shaped structure. Good one to start for all the family. 6/10.

After going through the innoventions (which seemed a lot smaller than I remember) we took a trip through the Universe Of Energy with Ellen Degenemathingy & Bill Nye, The Science Guy. Surprised at this one, although it was another journey through time into the world of all things energy, it had an extremely humorous spin on it! Patrick loved it (as he’s a sponge when it comes to new and interesting information). 7/10.

Mission: Space - an intense simulator thrill ride based around a shuttle mission to Mars. The pre-show was headed up by Gary Sinise, so I knew this would be a good one and it didnt disappoint. From the massive g-forces experienced during take off to the feeling of weightlessness in space, it was done remarkably well and my favourite ride of the day. 9/10!

Went through a few other attractions including The Seas with Nemo & Friends, which was a slow moving ride (in a big ass shell) aimed at younger kids and followed the adventures of Nemo and all of his fishy friends. It was a mix of animation and real fish which blended very well. Grace was so excited though she was skipping down the line dragging my mum behind her all the way! 7/10.

We had lost a bit of time with the buses so some things were closed by the time we got to them and we missed out on two I really wanted to do, Test Track and Soarin’ (apparently not to be missed - ah well c'est la vie). We had a hour before the fireworks display started so we walked around the World Showcase - little miniature countries dotted around the large lake in the centre of the park. It was getting dark so all the lights started flickering on around the lake and they even lit these big fire beacons, it made it a really lovely walk. The little ones (except for Patrick) were getting sleepy (wee Roro wasnt feeling too well all day and had crashed out) so wasn’t as appreciated by them but Patrick was having a great time trying to guess which countries we were in (which he landed pretty much spot on).

So after coming full circle, we were ready for the fireworks display (which was called IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth). Started off with some pretty neat fireworks and lasers across the sky. Then it had a large laser globe which moved across the water and opened up into the finale, showing different images from around the world. It was pretty spectacular. Ok this is a filler pic and doesn’t do it justice at all (couldn’t find a good spot as it was so busy). Maybe tomorrow! :)

Taxi home, took 12 minutes. Such a difference from 3 hrs to get there and regretting it a little about not getting taxis more often. Taxis all the way for Magic Kingdom tomorrow though: our last day…
